Three Crowns Park has an over 120 year history in Chicago's North Shore. Located at 2323 McDaniel Avenue in Evanston near the Northwestern University football stadium, we are a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with independent living, sheltered care, memory support assisted living, and three skilled nursing households. We are not a Medicare/Medicaid facility and are completely private-pay. We are not a "Bingo Bunco Bowling" department. We go all out to provide the fullness of the human experience, adapting to the abilities of each person. Everything and anything can be adapted as an experience to be enjoyed by anyone no matter the cognitive and physical ability.
We are looking for an energetic creative who can get off the ground running, planning and facilitating 1:1 programming in our sheltered care, memory support assisted living, and skilled nursing households during this coronavirus mitigation period.

With further guidance from the health departments, you will transition into planning small group activities in each household area that helps residents express the fullness of their human experience: from delving into the depths of mind and memory, to immersion of environment and spirit to fulfill a person's connection with the world, constantly learning about the Universe in which they exist, while reaching deep into a person's passions and unleashing it in the many creative outlets at our disposal.
We exercise, we sing, we dress in drag, we mix cocktails and mocktails, we tell bad jokes, we bring in the Northwestern football players, we bring the Civil War re-enactors to camp out on our lawn, we tell good jokes, we paint and polish, we throw water balloons at the director, we hunt for jackalopes, we dance the hula and the polka, we eat the smelliest cheese, we cry over bad memories, we explode into laughter over good memories.

College degree is preferred but we know not having a college degree doesn't mean you can't do this job.
You should be able to read and write, and use a computer and tablet to pull up photos, videos, make Zoom and Facetime calls, make flyers and calendars on Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher (or their Apple and Google equivalents).
You should be able to type out a nice narrative of a few sentences (progress notes and activity participation notes on Point Click Care) about how you made someone smile today, how you made someone feel less alone, how you made someone feel like they mean something to someone, how they were afraid and you made them feel like the strongest person standing up to their worst worries.
You will learn how to do assessments of a person's life and well-being using a Point Click Care checklist. And you will learn how to do it in a timely fashion.
You will learn that you have awesome co-workers in different departments like the nurses and CNAs and homemakers and housekeepers, that will put things down to help you get someone to your activity. You will learn that sometimes, you'll feel frustrated and that you'll have moments where you'll have to do it alone.

You need to be able to push a wheelchair and walk with a resident using a rollater or walker. There's a lot of transporting, so wear a neat pair of comfy closed-toe shoes.
But you'll be proud of what you've accomplished between 8:30 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon.
You won't get your own office because you'll be "on the floor" most of the day. But you will get access to several Life Enrichment computer stations to do your charting and check your threecrownspark.org email.
As is the case in healthcare, you won't be able to get every weekend off, but we'll try to get you at least two whole weekends each month. But know that certain circumstances would mean you'd have to work an extra Saturday or Sunday or both every now and then. In your first year, we can't guarantee you won't work Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. In healthcare, you don't always get to take off for every holiday.

Your co-workers in Life Enrichment are from diverse backgrounds: a dance teacher from Cincinnati, a music therapist from Minneapolis-St. Paul, a former financial professional who started out as a volunteer, a former United Airlines flight attendant on the prized Hawaii route, a former atheist CNN executive and outdoor enthusiast author who got his Master's in Divinity late in life to become our primary chaplain, a retired financial analyst turned bus driver (when he's not on the golf course). And your director, a former LGBT newspaper editor and political consultant who ended up in long-term care and Three Crowns Park by accident 15 years ago.

Starting pay is $17/hour with an annual increase, unless you need help with performing to the best of your ability.
You'll get a choice of Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO or PPO. We have dental and limited life insurance, too. And for now, free weekly COVID19 nasal swab testing.
Found a class you like to further your own passions? The residents like to give scholarships throughout the year to help finish a certificate or degree.
Want to join our team as a Life Enrichment Associate? Send your resume and a personal note (it doesn't have to be a formal letter) about who YOU are and what YOU can offer to help in our mission.
Hope to hear from you soon!
